Who We Are

Hayeladim Shelanu was founded by Joseph Waks, who was moved to action after witnessing the devastation following October 7th in Israel. During his visit, he experienced the intense suffering of families who had lost loved ones, particularly the children. Deeply affected, Joseph, alongside his son Mendel, who was serving in the IDF at the time, embarked on a mission to provide immediate relief. Together, they traveled across the country, forging meaningful connections with the affected families and addressing their urgent needs.

Under Joseph's leadership, Hayeladim Shelanu has made a profound impact. With over 6.5 million NIS raised, the organization has hosted more than 16 bar and bat mitzvahs for orphans, organized over 5,000 Yom Kefs (fun days for the children) during Chanukah and Purim, and have provided over 5,000 Shabbat meals to families since the onset of the conflict. They have also arranged for children, alongside their families, to travel overseas to raise awareness, and have funded additional therapy sessions. Through these initiatives, Hayeladim Shelanu continues to bring hope and support to Israel's youngest heroes in their time of need.

"We believe in embracing children who have lost loved ones as our own, providing them with the love and support they need to thrive and become beacons of hope."

Our Vision

We are currently expanding Hayeladim Shelanu to establish chapters in major cities across Israel, with local representatives working closely to identify and fill gaps in support. By expanding our reach, we aim to ensure that no child is left without the care, resources, and love they need to heal and thrive.
